I agree, although I actually think it’s more about their very real fear that they may have made a terrible mistake - and your/our compliance reassures them that they’ll be okay. By now people have to be getting an inkling that something is wrong, talk about feeling like you have a ticking time bomb inside. Every time one of us says “No way” it brings back that fear and doubt that maybe they have been had. I don’t think that they honestly want others to suffer - they want reassurance that THEY won’t suffer any consequences for this decision, so they HAVE to be right . . . and we HAVE to be wrong so that they’re okay.
