Also on a show I just found last night. The Last Ship ran on TNT from 2014-2018. Still stunned by how many of these shows and movies play out pandemics and the chaos surrounding them.
Last night I started Utopia (2013). National Health worker is blackmailed to push a vaccine for the Russian Flu. I read at the end of the series a group of people tied to this conspiracy capture one of the elites, who tells them everything. The vaccine is to make 90-95% infertile and in a few generations to bring the world population to 500,000,000.
Yakuza 7 has a lot of strange 2020 parallels too. Politicians using activists groups as a front, hospitals not allowing family to see the patients while extorting them for money to keep them alive, etc.
The Japanese release was in January 2020, but the US release was put on hold with no release date in sight.
It ended up getting released after the Nov 3rd election, with an excuse of a "fully dubbed English track", including actors like George Takei.
Weird thing is that an English dub was never a selling point in previous games, and it was even excluded.

Book was so much better.
Thanks. I'll have to read that.
I noticed the parallels as well when I was replaying it recently.
Punching cunts.
That’s how I solve every problem I encounter.

There’s a reason why the show was canceled/stopped after season 1.
Hint.... It wasn’t because it didn’t do well.

I dont think any of this was a coincidence.
Demolition Man was set in 2032 (just re-watched last weekend)
