I would disagree. It was Billy Gibbons' raw gravely African-American (black) sounding voice pumping the Blues that made everyone stop and pay attention, especially on the early LP's such as Rio Grande Mud and Tres Hombres.
La Grange, one of the greatest tracks ever made...and that voice...brilliant!
Music is subjective, and you made all valid points. I just liked Dusty's voice better.
