Actually it is possible. Usually the PA-C sees the patient then tells the doc the findings. Sometimes he comes in to see for himself, sometimes just tells the PA-C what to do. Its possible a Dr can spend 1 minute with the patient.

Here's a good story. A friend of mine was in our small community hospital and friends with her roommate. Curtain between them was drawn as her friend was being taken for xrays. They both had the same doctor (an old-timer everyone knows). Doc comes in and has a conversation with the friend's empty bed. My friend recognized his voice, peered through the curtain and verified. When her friend returned she was told what happened. Of course insurance was charged for a hospital visit. I'd be interested in what notes he recorded in her chart.
