The amazing polly talked about this recently. It's "Learned Helplessness" and cults do it and it is used to break people and create submission.

It is literally mental abuse.

Creating massive cognitive dissonance by huge contradictions and flip flopping basically breaks the mind.

People just mentally give up and submit, they don't know what to do any more.

I can't imagine my mental state if I actually WATCHED the news. I'd probably be wearing a mask in the shower and have 6 jabs and bathe in sanitizer.
