The dwarves became an insular group--a minority among the Free Peoples who feared to hear anything but what served their pre-conceptions of what is right and wrong. They will destroy anyone else who is free, while they cling to their own dismal, doomed freedom. Their hearts are full of spite for their enemies, and hypocritical leadership has lead them to harden their hearts against true leadership. They claim to do things in the name of Aslan that Aslan could never want. They are so afraid of being fooled that they have made fools of themselves by believing their silly, insular dogma.
