I have had debates on here about various issues. One of the debates was about why Africa is always in disarray.
So I talked to a guy from Nigeria and asked him why?
He looked at me and said.
It's simple of why Africa is in bad shape. He said....
Too many difference of opinions of how things should be. He said for example.
In Nigeria. There are over 500 different tribes. With various languages and cultures.
I told him my doctor was from Nigeria to. He said... What is his name.
I told him.
He goes.
Ah... an EBO man with a smile.
I said what's the smile about.
He said.. No offense to your doctor. But we DON'T TRUST EBO guys.
I said why..
He said they are shady and are money hustlers.
I said wow.
He said there are tons of African tribes that HATE EACH other.
Basically he said it's no different than DIE HARD LIBERALS fighting against DIE HARD CONVERSATIVES.
He said.. just imagine if there were 500+ political parties all with various thought processes. He said how much in fighting would there be.
He said. it has nothing to do with intelligence or anything like that.
He said it's all about ego. Such as "Our tribe" is better then your "tribe".
I thought this was interesting.
Sorry to say this but it is about IQ, education and literacy.
People with lower intelligence are more likely to seek security via group membership. Thus tribalism is still the norm in Africa.
Additionally, the rule of law is also weakened when people are unable to read well enough to write up, read and follow contractual agreements. In Western societies, where most people can understand and follow contractual agreements, that helps them to increase their circle of trust to include more than just their family, friends and neighbors. That means that as an American you can travel to a far away American city seeking employment or engage in trade with people there without expectation of being cheated just because you’re an outsider.
In traditional African tribal villages, if you have a conflict with someone you go to the chief and he resolves it. Once that conflict goes outside of the village, no one chief can resolve it and now you’ve got tribe to tribe conflict. In the past, this may have led to war but in the present what it leads to is lack of trust, reduced interaction and a reduction in trade with outside tribes.
In societies that have narrow circles of trust, dependable economic growth becomes more difficult.
Finally, without a strong national education system tribal languages maintain their hold and make it more difficult to interact and trade with people in a village who may just be a few miles away from your village. Sadly but smartly the Chinese government realized years ago that it needed to promote a national language in order to facilitate economic development and interaction within China itself.
I do f know anyone that has taken an IQ test. It’s a worthless score.
I don’t know why you keep holding onto it. I suggest you read some personal development books.
A book called Psycho Cybernetics is something you should read.
To operate In that world normally. You aren’t going to need complicated physics or math.
Knowing the basics is useful in most part of life.
The reason why Africa is in such bad shape. As I said.
When you have that many languages and cultures. You are going to get infighting.
How many people do you know. That knows their IQ score?
A person with a decent enough IQ of 85 who grows up in America is able to experience the American education system where they can usually learn to read and write English. They have little appreciation for what it means to grow up in a small African village, speaking a tribal language that lacks vocabulary for math, science, technology, ethics and law.
Most westerners also don’t appreciate what it means to be in a workplace where most of the other people present are sub-literate and can neither read nor write English or their own tribal language.
If your brain is the hardware then the language you learn is the software for cognition. People in Africa are not just lacking the hardware (IQ), many of them are lacking the software for cognition. This lack of cognition doesn’t just relate to academic abilities, it is also related to a persons’s ability to describe, support and develop high trust social relationships outside the tribe. That’s a serious problem.
Most Americans have a kind of reverse Dunning-Kruger. They don’t understand how good they really have it in terms of language, economic environment and education.
