My wife is Chinese. Since information is so censored in China she never got an idea of how "evil" (for lack of better word) the Chinese Communist Party is.
But with all of the flooding in China, she's been shocked by how bad it is in China. The communist party did nothing to help people from stopping the flooding, and then it's been literally hiding the bodies. And then it's been mercilessly cracking down on anyone trying to report about it.
My wife has been hooked on her cellphone for the last week watching all of the news with the shocked expression of "I had no idea it was this bad, i'm ashamed to be Chinese".

I love china. Was there over a decade ago, before it got too bad with the CCP crushing opinions. The locals are such wonderful, wonderful people. My heart truly breaks when I see government officials intentionally flooding cities and fields to spare themselves, and not alerting the locals so the government doesn't have to pay them insurance. I truly hate the CCP. But I love the Chinese people, their history, art, different provinces, food, architecture, etc. Imagine if the gospel could spread there and they were democratic capitalists. They'd be such a powerful ally and a force for good in the world.
The whole thing seems to a cluster fuck. The local officials need to get approval from the CCP to do anything. And then when everything goes wrong, no one wants to take the blame.
