Try working out after having a few beers or a bottle of wine. Drunks might try to fight, all right, but they're likely to do a lot of swinging and missing. THC and ethanol are both alcohol molecules, with different mechanisms of action. Only one is deadly. So the discussion boils down to a tedious argument over which specific type of alcohol molecule free adults should have access to.
The real reason for legalizing cannabis is free adults in a free society have a natural right to decide what does or doesn't go into their own body, especially when it's non-lethal. Government has no legitimate right to regulate mere vices. Also, businesses should be able to participate in a multi-billion-dollar industry; and patients have a human right to choose natural medicine over Big Pharma crap designed to keep them sick and hooked on their chemicals.
