This isn’t what this place is for. I know that. But I wanna share with like minded folks.
My wife had a 3 yo when we met. I don’t have children of my own. Probably won’t either. Getting passed that prime. We are babysitting her brothers kids. One is 6 months old and that is so far out of my wheelhouse it scares me. But it’s so frigging awesome having a little blessing from God in our house. It’s not near the hassle I expected. I don’t have a clue how to handle it, but it isn’t hard. This is the best blessing God has ever given me. This little 6 month old girl has changed my life in 2 days. No joke.
I can’t describe it. But it really is life changing.
Sounds like you are a baby person... I swear maybe 1 in 20 people are what I call 'baby people' who will just lose it with bliss when they see a baby. I myself am not a baby person - but having a toddler and a newborn means my wife and I encounter baby people every day. You never know who they are until they see your kids and go nuts - "OMG HE'S SO CUTE. HE'S AMAZING. WHAT PRETTY EYES! YOU ARE SUCH LUCKY PARENTS. ENJOY THIS TIME." (while they are practically jumping up and down - almost like it's an involuntary reaction.. like their entire day was made amazing just by seeing our kids.. total strangers)
It's always fun for us when we encounter baby people.. You never know who is going to be a baby person by looking at them. Sometimes it's an old grandma.. or a guy in his early 20's.. or even a 10 year old kid.. One time, this 65-ish sargeant major looking guy - old but buzzed cut, ripped, maybe 6' 4 - came up to us.. and freaking lost it.. totally gushing.. just going on and on about babies and how he misses raising his kids.
I have never had a bad experience with a person like this - and I just find it fascinating every time. I really had no clue what life was about until I had my kids. I think baby people are born with that knowledge.
