Word around the water cooler is that he has his role to play and it might not be the official one per the scope of his investigation. If it was just what was stated previously, no reason he would not be done.

Better to take longer and do thing right than to rush them and not completely finish this hydra that is this international cabal run deep state. You don't fully take care of even 1 branch of it and it will come back as strong as ever.
