France has had 4 or 5 revolutions since that time. Italy has had a few as have Germany and Spain. England's were a bit further back.
We're learning. I think our history of having lived in the greatest country made us complacent. Even a decade ago with Hussein in office, I doubt many of us could have foreseen the chaos and evil that have overtaken our beloved USA.

Sometimes it's difficult for Americans to grasp our place in history.
Years ago my father-in-law said to me, "In Europe 100 miles is far away and in the United States a 100 years is a long time ago."
