Recently masks were mandated in Illinois for schools. Our school board had already stated they were optional except for buses. Because they're public transportation, they were required. Tonight, they had an emergency meeting. I revised plan was released earlier today. It stated "strongly recommended" for school property AND on the buses! It was passed unanimously.
Most other local schools are not requiring it as well. I feel like the mandate is a test to see if they still have power over us and they clearly do not. I'm ridiculously introverted so it took a lot for me to get up there today. But I did it! I not only got applause after my speech, but during it as well! I'm so proud of myself, our community and our school board!
Im going tmw night to our school, any pointers or advice ? Did you print anything or bring anything? I would greatly appreciate and help!
I printed out my speech. We had some that just spoke but most had something to read even if it was on their phone. I have my speech below if it helps. I recommend keeping the emotion to a minimum but keeping passion in it. This matters to all of us and they need to know it. Don't be afraid to let them know that we are watching who votes for what and will remember that at the next election.
I am here to implore our schools to give our families and children the freedom of choice in regards to masks. The packaging from even N95 masks proclaim that they do not stop the spread of viruses. The CDC claims that they are beneficial in children, yet no study has ever been conducted with live children. That was confirmed recently with Dr. Robert Redfield, a former head of the CDC. I, personally, would be terrified to know what was on my child’s mask at the end of every school day last year. As a mom of a typical 6 year old boy, it came home wet and stained. Every. Day. Normally, there were more than 1. No amount of berating, bribing, begging or any other form of coercion yielded better results. Because he’s a child.
I, like most, was ecstatic when the announcement came from the school that masks were going to be optional aside from the buses. Now, here we are. Our tyrannical governor has once again proclaimed an unconstitutional mandate. Rumors have flown around social media and in gossip circles everywhere about how he can pull funding if we don’t comply. There’s a few problems with those rumors. Our state Legislature makes the laws, not the governor. Per Dillon’s Rule, our state’s governor only has the power granted to him by our state legislature. Never has J.B. Pritzger been given the power to mandate masks. Furthermore, school code 105 ILCS does not grant that power to the Illinois State Board of Education, either.
I am asking the board to stand for the freedom of choice for our children. We are responsible for teaching our children to make the right choice and not the easy one. Please be brave and set the example that our future deserves.
Thank you for your time.
Perfect, thank you so much! And that was a fantastic speech! I will use as a guide for me and get Commiefornia names & such. Thanks again! 😇
In a surgical setting, masks must be changed every 20 minutes or so because even in a hygenically cleaned surgery, there is contamination. In any other setting, it's nowhere near as clean so a mask must be replaced every ten minutes AND every time it is touched. To do otherwise risks pneumonia and other diseases. And don't forget that hands must be washed before putting a mask on.
From this you can calculate, approximately, how many masks your child will need to take to school each day, hygenically packed. Also the risk of dermatitis from so much hand washing.
This deserves a round of applause! (We need a gif for this, please, mods!) u/#happening
I see this thanks
