A waiter, hairdresser or security guard provides a device but do not produce anything.
What would happen if all everyone did was provide service instead of produced anything??? We'd all be naked, starve ng and without any tools what's over and totally dependent on anyone who actually produced anything

Private security and the US military provide security...that security is produced, it doesn't come from nowhere.
Product: Something produced by human or mechanical effort or by a natural process.
Security is produced by human effort. It's a product.

They produce something but because you can't hold it in your hand, you call them consumers.

Good luck producing a product without the means to protect the product. A service provided is still a product, it just cannot be held in the hand.
