The symposium reached a larger audience and gathered more attention than GAW ever could have. While this isn't news to us, it is news to a lot of people.

It might be what was needed to lend a bit more credibility to other efforts, such as the AZ decertification. Considering they spent a lot of time talking about how this was a national effort, one state decertifying should have a bigger ripple effect.
