My dad got an antenna, prior to cable, to pick up the channels, but you had to mannually rotate the antenna, depending on the location it was broadcast from. He had this tuning fork type "clicker" that would do a high-pitched "ping" that would change the channels, but only in one direction, one at a time, so it would take about a half minute of clicking to get back to the channel you started with (and if you changed the channel, you might have to rotate the antenna :) )
