I do some security engineering work for a contractor that works closely with the Army and i was given exactly 2 days notice that the leadership did not want me to travel due to my vax status. (Despite the fact they released instructions earlier last week outlining what you need to do to travel)
As a veteran this put me in a dark place temporarily for a couple reasons. 1: imagine the worlds greatest military being scared of a disease with a less than 1% mortality rate. 2: the contractors have obligations to fill based on contracts not the whims of colonels who are "risk averse". 3: where the hell do they find these people? Sometimes i wonder if the payoffs trickle down to the lower ranks too (O5-O6) because it just seems like such a stupid ass thing to do.
Just keep in mind what will likely occur in the near future.
When the "vaxed" contractors and military members that had the vax begin falling very ill, have neurological problems, heart conditions, blood clots (which will prevent many from flying)... YOU will become invaluable. You will still be healthy, able to travel and have all of your mental faculties.
Remember to send flowers to those in "leadership" who told you not to travel due to your vax status. :>)
I hope it doesn't not get that bad but you are absolutely right. Combine the workforce that is already near retirement with the vaccine folks and it could be a complete shakeup in just a couple years
