So I got home today and thought something was burning. I got online and saw two news articles saying there was a small chemical leak last night.... about 20 miles away from where I am! (yeah, small leak my ass) It reeks, I have a headache and immediately started coughing. Turns out Lubrizol (owned by Warren Buffet) has been leaking chemicals since yesterday. Local news is barely covering it and they retracted the original statement saying it was Hydrogen Sulfide. I cant find many answers since I dont have main stream social media but I would like to know what the fuck I am breathing. Anyone around the area with any info?

Thanks but I will pass on trusting the authorities on this one. It could be nerve gas and they would say "its fine dont worry". I worked at the plants.. I know how they operate.
I know a lot of the chemical plants and refineries on the Houston Ship Channel and around SouthEast Houston, Pasadena, Deer Park, Laporte, Mont Belvieu and Baytown.
I know which plants are clean and we'll managed, which ones are older but employees try their best to maintain them, which ones have hazardous materials and which ones are relatively benign. I also know a few plants that are like you described.
Lubrizol is on the better end of the scale. Management are straight, employees are good, they pay well and keep good people and they maintain their equipment. You are far safer walking down the street at a Lubrizol plant than virtually any city street. I don't work for Lubizol and don't have at relationship with them, but I won't watch a good company being criticized unfairly.
Well my point was more along the lines of what can you do about it at this point guess I should have added /s
I have 4 big dogs so a lot harder to up and leave but no doubt if I was feeling symptoms
Good luck fellow pede....good to see so many of us on here Really stepping up almost immediately
God bless Texas
Thanks! apparently they are being tight lipped on what people have been breathing in for the past day. Cant be anything good or they would just say it. You are right there isnt much that can be done but I will keep looking. Appreciate it.
