What makes a good movie?

A protagonist that people can identify with leads a normal life, perhaps with a negative aspect. Then something happens and he or she is called on to take extraordinary actions. Things get dicey and it looks like all is lost, and then in a final climax, all is resolved and the protagonist has grown from the experience.

In addition to the storytelling, you need good actors, good directing and cinematography.
