I understand she's your friend and you want to assign her the best motivations, but...it's possible it's because she wants to keep getting her nails did, and if she doesn't see it, it doesn't exist.

Yes exactly! She's a very good person & friend, will do just about anything to help a friend out, and she is a Republican, but I think she wants to stay a bit clueless about some things. However our other friends and I don't let her stay in the dark, lol.
