Yup. We've got some of those asshats around this site and they do have high votes counts (likely from serious shill love). They try to piss you off so the whole argument loses reason.

It's like when Bill Burr talked about women fight. If the guy is right and he's winning the argument she'll say something like, "you have a small dick" or "This is why your father left you." Now you're fighting out of hurt and anger. And once you call her a bitch she's won. Next come tears and "How can you say something so awful?" and now you're apologizing and the whole argument is forgotten.

I find a lot of sneaky shills resort to this style of fighting. They try to make you forget what you're even discussing.
