That's just the thing. They know, full well, that they have utterly perverted the scientific method and free inquiry.

They're not stupid - they're either pusillanimously cowardly, or utterly malevolent.

Some of them do, but others have been brainwashed and gaslit as much as most of the public. They were only ever indoctrinated with dogma, and never taught to use critical thinking.
