Check this out: https://usafacts.org/visualizations/covid-vaccine-tracker-states/
This reports only 61% got one dose of the shot, and barely 50% are fully vaccinated. This number got updated 2 days ago and hasn't budged in weeks.
It's also considerably less than what some MSM outlets are reporting.
I'm pretty sure everyone who wants it has gotten it already.
I seem to have hit a nerve with you.
Sure, I completely agree that southerners are very nice people. Probably the nicest people in the country.
But it's just a fact that a large percentage of them are very obese. Anyone who lives in the south or ever been to the south knows this. The same with smoking. There's simply no denying this.
It's also a fact that fat people and smokers are being hit harder than others by covid
You're doing nothing to help them by defending them. Exactly the opposite. Coddling them won't encourage them to lose weight or stop smoking.
The average cost of a covid patient in the hospital is around 70,000 right now. And it's rising now because the delta varient is causing people to be sick longer and thus longer stays.
Do you think insurance companies are going to eat those costs? Nope. Be prepared for your premium rates to sky rocket in the next couple of years.
We've known since the beginning of the epidemic that people with pre-existing conditions are much more likely to need hospitalization for covid. Obesity causes multiple pre-existing conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, etc...
These people have had a year and a half to lose weight and get healthier. And to quit smoking.
And they didn't. I'm not happy at all that my insurance premiums will be jacked up soon because other people don't have self control or will power to get themselves healthy. Especially in a pandemic that's hitting THEM hard. Seems like they don't care about THEMSELVES too much.
So as nice as they are, it doesn't make it ok that they're sucking my money and other's down the drain.
Sorry if that hurts your feelings. But that's the way it is.
So you enter into a group that you agree to share costs with but you suddenly see fat people as upping the risk. Because the death rate has not gone up in the last year an 1/2. The risks you find unacceptable were there before, COVID presents no additional threat to anyone! It’s exaggerated! It is a manufactured fear! If your premium goes up I suggest that not only have you been brainwashed but you’ve been scammed by your insurance carrier. Why are you here if you are willing to advocate that one group or another is better. I don’t suppose you have anything that increases your likelihood of requiring medical care? Did you have that same rate of risk before the Plandemic? Ever had a child, drive a car, engage in a sport? Maybe you work in an office with lots of chemicals in the decor. I know you live in the country, ingest only non gmos, raise your own non vaccinated meat, you are non on city water and you have no power lines anywhere near your off the grid home. Get real asshole, you’re prejudice and think yourself superior. Grow up. All that working out and clean living you do doesn’t stop you from needing any less health care then anyone else.
You're deranged if you think that people who exercise, eat a healthy diet, and take care of themselves place as much burden on medical/ insurance matters than people who don't.
The same with smoking.
It's a choice, and they're choosing to be fat. The same with smoking.
You seem to be getting pretty upset and taking this personally.
I haven't insulted anyone personally. I'm not rude to fat people, or smokers, in person. I don't even bring up the topics of being fat or smoking with them. So I'm not hurting their feelings with my opinions that are based on facts such as obese people and smokers cost all of us money with the bad choices they make.
Interestingly smokers are hospitalized far less for Covid. As far as Covid is concerned at least, smoking seems to offer some protection. Probably get the same protection with nicotine patches or lozenges too.
That IS interesting. I haven't heard that before.
Do you remember where you learned that? I need to get up to date and not spread misinformation.
Thanks for telling me.
You're completely wrong! Both my obese neighbors couldn't wait to get their injections. These people are on any number of drugs already just to keep them upright day to day. On the other hand, I haven't been to the doctor since I gave birth and I'm not on a single drug. Fat people are costly to society. But I totally support your right to be fat if that makes you happy. That's the difference between me and a nazi. I can recognize you're a drain on society without demanding that you be changed or eliminated.
