"I think I said in my first book that, and maybe this was foolish, but I really meant it that someday I'd like to maybe lose everything for a period of time to see who's loyal and who's not loyal. And I frankly I found out a lot of things.
I tell you what, and you can't guess it. You can't predict it. You think certain people would be loyal no matter what and it turns out that they're not and you just... you just can't predict. It's very difficult.
It's a whole different scene Charlie. I mean, we have a, you know we have a situation where you have everything going, everything going perfectly, and then one day you wake up and the world is coming to an end from the standpoint of the economy.
But I, I just think that I've had, I've had a lot of luck. I've had a lot of friends. I've had a lot of good friends, and overall I've done really well with it. And I'm very happy about it."
“You can't look back. I don't like to look back. If I had to do it again would I have done things differently? Yes. Instead of stopping with the sale of the st. Moritz, where I sold and I made a lot of money and probably would have sold some other things, I think I would have treated people differently.
I think that, you know, some of the people that were most loyal to me were people that I didn't think would be. Some of the people that were least loyal to me are people that… I think I would have treated him differently. I think it would have treated different groups differently. I would have wiped the floor with the guys that weren't loyal. Which I will now do.
Which is great, you know, I love getting even with people. Oh absolutely. You don’t believe in the eye for the eye? You do. I know you well enough. I think you do.
If given the opportunity, I will get even with some people that were disloyal to me. People that didn’t come to my aid.”
PBS: Interview with Charlie Rose and Donald Trump - November 6, 1992
He did not lose The People.
Yes--I recall this. In addition to everything else he faced, from every direction, I cannot imagine how deeply it affected President Trump to also realize the disloyalty, and downright betrayal, from so many of those he trusted.
This especially applies to the RINOS, as well as the RNC; many Republicans (national and state) would not have been elected to their positions if not for him.
President Trump’s loyalty and commitment is unwavering; likewise, despite all the chaos and uncertainties since the election, these characteristics are among the many reasons most of us have never wavered in supporting him.
IMO, the thought he would abandon his supporters, or this country as a whole, is inconceivable.
Thank you for posting that interview.
And how many here are learning this same lesson right now in their own lives?
