Most of us are familiar that Eisenhower warned America about the Military Industrial Complex's influence on national policy, or the dangerous alliance between the MIC, Big Business, and politicians, but Ike also warned, in the same speech, of the danger of government funded scientific research.

In 1960, Eisenhower saw the roots of corruption in science, which has led to the farce which climate, and medical science has become today.

Eisenhower said:

In this revolution, research has become central; it also becomes more formalized, complex, and costly. A steadily increasing share is conducted for, by, or at the direction of, the Federal government.  

Today, the solitary inventor, tinkering in his shop, has been overshadowed by task forces of scientists in laboratories and testing fields. In the same fashion, the free university, historically the fountainhead of free ideas and scientific discovery, has experienced a revolution in the conduct of research. Partly because of the huge costs involved, a government contract becomes virtually a substitute for intellectual curiosity. For every old blackboard there are now hundreds of new electronic computers.  

The prospect of domination of the nation’s scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present and is gravely to be regarded.  

Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific technological elite.

Ike warned of this in 1960, and I think any discerning, over the years could see that what Ike warned of, was happening at an ever increasing rate, so why did citizens disregard this warning, why did we not listen, why do we always wait until bombs are dropping our Perl Harbors before we act. Was it because people of yesterday were unable to know the truth, that we did not see the true face of politicians and the elites? Was it because Ike only warned of these things, but did not implement actual policies to fight against.

That warning has become reality. Whether Covid, Global Warming, research is contorted to justify additional funding, and has little connection to actual scientific conclusions. and what we are hearing\seeing in Afghanistan, and others is must probably aimed at advancing the ends of MIC, and politicians.
