That's a damn float. Engines are hollow. The people are either carrying it, or all bunched around a vehicle that is moving it to hide it.

I spent 10 years in Marine Corps fixed wing aviation, including 2 pumps on the USS Theodore Roosevelt doing flight deck ops.

Jet engines can certainly knock you over when they are powered up, but the thrust needed to taxi is not typically strong enough to knock you over, nor enough to suck people in.

Consider Newton’s First Law of Motion - once you’ve got the aircraft moving, it takes very minimal thrust to continue taxiing.

Plus the engine intakes on the C17 are about 15 ft up, meaning that the minimal thrust needed to taxi is also too far away from the people on the ground (so they wouldn’t be getting sucked in) and the exhaust would be 9-10 feet above people’s heads.

I’m not saying the C17 in the video is real, just that the evidence that it’s fake is unconvincing to those know have spent a lot of time around jet aircraft.

I'm just going to put it out there and say that there is a big difference between a jet engine that's under minimal levels of thrust, enough to just taxi at walking speed and another one which is stationary with engine thrust at much higher levels specifically for the purposes of jet-washing a car over.

On many fast jets the ground crew stand behind and to the side of the aircraft as they start up, to check that a fire does not start in the jet pipe, caused by fuel pooling there, they are in no danger as they are not in the path of the exhaust.

Standing behind a jet doing re-heat (afterburner) runs will likely cause death pretty quickly, either from extreme temperatures, or being thrown a couple of hundred feet, and landing on concrete."

I do not know of any jet powered airplanes that fly at a mere 300 mph, most fly at 400–600 mph. Some much faster than that. To get the airplane moving that fast the hot gasses coming out the rear of the engine has to be going a lot faster, they have to overcome the drag and weight of the airframe.

Better hope the engine is off. Otherwise you won't be standing there very long. Even in another aircraft holding behind a jet waiting for takeoff, you'll stop several hundred feet back. This is also with the engine at idle. I'd want to be a very far away from the back of a jet engine at takeoff thrust.

Also watched some videos of people standing pretty far from an airplane lifting off and it blew them away. Seen 3 videos of vans being ripped apart when approaching the exhaust of the plane. Something is fucky here indeed.
