Ugh, if there is no public police force that we can ALL trust, it's gonna devolve down into local militias or even feudal lords to maintain the peace. Regressing back into the dark ages.

Would you prefer local militias/warlords, or a bunch of communists that get pleasure from crushing the skulls of those who dare talk back to them? They'd think nothing of physically abusing children if it would earn them a bonus.
