Apparently he was strongly anti - vaxx and anti - mask and reportedly later said he wished he'd taken the vaxx and was encouraging all to do so.

I always question the authenticity of statements like this because they support the narrative and may only be something that some 'inventive' writer decided to add to the story without any basis in fact.
