Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”
John the Baptist had his head cut off. Many disciples were tortured, and/or killed. God never promised that Christians wouldn't go through hardship, he promised that he would be there with them through it. I know that doesn't seem like much consolation when you think of the people being tortured for their beliefs, but we are not meant for this world. We are meant for after it. Hope that helps.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

Nothing you can suffer in this life compares to where you will be

You don't know that though. You don't know exactly what these people are going through. I don't either. Perhaps they ARE suffering with joy
