If you watch the video, he basically says the same thing. However, in building a case, always think of every thing you can do to find resolution outside of accepting their unlawful demand. By documenting your attempts to find resolution, you are solidifying your case against them. The reason for asking for information to that you can make an informed decision gets them to think about the information themselves. Objecting to the mandate right away by stating the law (or lawyering-up) tends to put the manager on the defensive. The manager will kick it up-stream to their legal department. I don't think this is the best approach. The Informed Consent request letter buys you time and allows the manager to get those answers to you. You can provide further questions and even information of your own as a response to those questions answered.
When the informed consent is fulfilled to your satisfaction, then you can provide your religious belief exemption. Again, watch that video to get an idea. In the meantime, it is a wise idea to line a lawyer up for later. That doesn't mean to hire one, but identify one that will represent you.
