Wow, don't know what kind of nursing home experience you had, but I can assure you the majority of nurses I've worked with (including me), are not pieces of shit, do not dope people up with opioids, and generally work our butts off to make sure our patients are well cared for. For the most part anyone getting any kind of narcotic is either in a terminal condition or has intractable pain. Doses are very, very carefully given, and just as meticulously accounted for. We're not running around with syringe in hand looking to dope anyone up.
Good for you. In lower income nursing homes, it's pretty bad. My mother's nurse looked her right in the eye as she removed her earrings and took them.
I’ve heard from ex-lower tier Nursing Home “nurses” their nightmare stories. Imagine millions (?) of Seniors from way back being extremely abused in their last days. Reality is harsh. I’m at the saturation point where I don’t care what’s wrong with me I’m never going into another Hospital again. N-Ever.
First of all I'm not looking for sympathy for being not like the others. I have honestly never worked in a place like what you've described and I've worked in several different facilities. What most families do if they have complaints is go right to the higher ups and complain. Sorry for your horrible experience but I stand by my statement. Most long term care facilities, at least where I live are not hellholes, and the people are well taken care of.
Not true but meh. Not feeding your agenda.
My brother was in a nursing home at the beginning of the lockdown and was bitching to me on the phone about the staff. Just stupid stuff, like the taste of the chicken and I blew up at him for being so selfish. I told him you are lucky they are there, every one else is staying home.
Those nurses were so nice and later on one thanked me because his attitude changed.
Nice to know. As I've said most places are not snakepits where the patients are treated badly. Maybe if UncleHooly is so concerned about his grandmother being treated badly where she is he can chip in and help pay for a better place? Or let her stay with him? Lots of families actually love having their elderly relatives live with them.
HEY! You TOTALLY read that wrong. I’m saying how it IS, not how it should be. Re-read and Delete this.
