I am pregnant and my midwives want me to have some blood drawn. They had a hard time getting at my blood themselves so they sent me to a 3rd party Phlebotomy clinic to get the service done. I call these people to make an appointment and I am faced with “masks are required.” I asked “will I be refused service if I do not wear a mask?” They answered “yes, sorry its not my policy its the corporate office.” I said “I understand. Thanks I will be going somewhere else.” And hung up.
I wrote to corporate to let them know I am pregnant and healthy. Masks do nothing for my health, my babies health or others. I explained I would never ever be a patient of theirs with this crap policy.
My poor midwives are caught in the middle. I apologized to them even though they are super kind to me. I said they can try taking my blood next time if they really need it.
Done venting.
Great questions!
My midwives are the ones that insist on the blood. They use science backed tests to determine if I have signs of preeclampsia, high or low iron etc. They say its important - I don’t care either way. If I had it my way I would decline but my midwives feel comfortable with this information.
This is different than wearing a mask because there is actually science utilizing the scientific method continually proving that its beneficial to know these blood test results as apposed to the mask mandates which are not backed by science at all and may actually hinder health in various ways. Plus, its the gateway drug to communism and I refuse to consent as a proud patriotic American. The mask is bad for my oxygen levels and I am growing a brain in my belly.
Any other questions?
Just because a large amount of people do something for the general public, doesn't mean it's communism. Millions of people pay taxes for their local police department, that's hardly communism. Preventing treatment for your baby to be more "patriotic," instead of listening to medical science sounds like an anecdotal decision of ego.
This has been disproven, they even tested masks during vigorous exercise, and it was still disproven.
"Time to exhaustion during the exercise test was not different for face mask compared to no face mask conditions"
"Exercise Performance in Healthy Individuals"
Did that include pregnant women?

Cloth face masks led to a 14% reduction in exercise time and 29% decrease in VO2max, attributed to perceived discomfort associated with mask-wearing. Compared with no mask, participants reported feeling increasingly short of breath and claustrophobic at higher exercise intensities while wearing a cloth face mask. Coaches, trainers and athletes should consider modifying the frequency, intensity, time and type of exercise when wearing a cloth face mask.

When using double SM, oxygen saturation is significantly reduced compared to pre-mask values. Nevertheless, it seems difficult to say that these decreases have clinical significance.
We could cite studies to each other all year. I doubt we'll change anyone's minds. If she doesn't want to wear a mask that's her choice.
