Pardon. I know I argue faith views too much, but for me, Both the Father and the Son decided to hand over the body as a ransom. The Adversary killed the Son, not the Father.
They faced an impossible choice. The people lacked faith. The Hebrews, prepared and raised and protected for 2000 years fell into Satan's bosom when they could not even muster the faith to receive the Christ when he came.
Because Israel represented the world, represented humanity, this was as if humanity rejected and failed to have faith in the Son, and as a result, all fell into Satan's grasp, despite all the work the Father invested in raising a people prepared.
So, they had an impossible choice. In the end, the Father and Son decided to offer the body as a ransom, to liberate and claim the spirit.
This is the real reason Jesus prayed in the Garden: "let this cup pass from me". He wanted to remain alive, to change the people's hearts, to gain their faith then and there, thus opening up the kingdom on Earth and in Heaven.
He knew that the way of the cross meant all his followers, all his children in the future would suffer greatly. He wanted the way of peace and the way of faith for them.
But ultimately they had no choice, and had to hand over the flesh. This is why all Christians must follow that way, and why Christianity only advanced in the world via the path of martyrdom. Jesus wanted to avoid that path for all his followers.
That's why he prayed, not from weakness, but from strength.
And the devil, who knew that God had laboured and slaved and sacrificed for 4000+ years to being the Son, the sacred spirit and the sacred flesh, to the earth, thought, if I can destroy the flesh, I will win!
But he lost, and the ransom was paid. The Father suffered immeasurably as the Son suffered on the Cross. But both were Victorious, and the Son conquered the realm of hell, and resurrected victorious.
That's why here we are today. The battle for the sovereignty of the Earth is the completion of that process, or liberating not just the spirit from the Devil, as achieved via the Cross, but the liberation of our earth, and then, soon after, our flesh too.
Paul spoke of this. We await the redemption of our bodies. So now we fight.
Peace and blessings.
