The problem is are the doctors knowingly or unknowingly killing people? Both of these are bad options, but I would argue that unknowingly is actually much worse.
Most doctors just look at the data they're given and repeat that. Very few actually do research outside of their bubble. My field of work allows me to be friends with many doctors of all types, and some health issues over the past 5 years have allowed me to be treated by many of them. Most do not think outside the box. The ones that do are usually so swamped you can't get an appointment with them for months.
