If Thanos' snap was to wake people up from the matrix and I could chose who "vanished" from the matrix then yes, in a heart beat. That has been my primary life effort for a while now.
However, making people not exist? That is anger talking. Don't be angry at the sheep.
We have been programmed to be sheep. Some people have seen the programming and it woke them up. Some have not yet. It is our job to wake people up; to remove them from the matrix; to unplug them from the machine so it will stop using them as indentured servant labor batteries, necessary for its function.
Focus on the way to win. Help our fellow man by showing them they are plugged in to the matrix. Don't wish them gone, wish them red-pilled. Each new red-pill is a converted soldier for our battle against the machine. Don't rage against the sheep. Rage against the Machine.
Agreed. If the snap made the scales fall from peoples eyes and everyone saw the truth, I would certainly use it, but just randomly killing half of life is chaos. And it wouldn't solve the problem of stupid people stuck in lies.
It feels like all the horseshit going on actually evolves people and wakes them up.
I don't think I'd want to risk running into a bigger problem by removing such a strong source for learning about how easily corrupted society can become.
Well we all saw what happened when Thanos tried. God / Karma has a tendacy to get his no matter what.
Look what's happening to the DS. It looks like their winning ATM, but objectively they stand to loose everything, their power shift has left them exposed and incredibly imbalanced.
None of us are capable of making such a judgment. Best to work on our own defects and make the world better right here right now in the way we actually can. Killing half of the population on earth won't solve any of our underlying issues, which we all have, not just our perceived opponents.
Nah. The theory was never a particularly good one.
Life expands to fill its container (which, in this case, is the amount of resources available). It's inevitable that unless the actual population growth is controlled, a reduced population would eventually re-expand and cause exactly the same problem.
If Thanos wanted to actually succeed in his plan, he needed to snap to cause half of all pregnancies to fail. Forever. Or something along those lines. A one-time catastrophe is not going to be a permanent solution.
Or, since he had the ability to do literally anything, create a source of energy for all living things that does not require consumable resources, and therefore prevents any resource strangulation.
It was a stupid intervention, and in my opinion a bit of Hollywood programming, nature has been designed to he self balancing, and the only one with enough power and knowledge to do miracles is God. Anyone else playing God always seems to have unintended consequences.

This.

Leave it to God and nature.

A stone's throw could topple the entire mountain.
No. The problem is not nearly as big as 50% of the planet.
That's where the "if you have a say in it" part comes in.
There are people I would vanish in a heartbeat , and sleep like a baby.
Wouldn't even need to be 1% of the planet.

If I could snap my fingers and make the world as good a place as I wished it was I would do that, but make people vanish, no.

But hey, at least the fight scenes were cool.

I mean, Thanos is referred to as "the Mad Titan."
