I hope they hurry up. I have to have cancer surgery in a few weeks and I'd sure like To avoid their mandatory Covid test.(PCR not rapid test supposedly required). I asked today why they are even doing them since the tests are being discontinued because they can tell the difference between influenza, Covid and the common cold and the nurse of course had no answer. They won't accept antibody testing, (I'm sure we had it last Nov, but won't test you if you took the vax-- stupid sheep medical establishment. I really don't want that thing up my nose for any reason and I should be able to say no. I'm no risk, I'd reschedule if I was sick, I'm not stupid.
My girlfriend had serious eye surgery last month. She had to have the test a few days ahead, just like you. The 'probe up the nose' is over before you even realize what's going on ... just an intense tickle sensation. If I had cancer surgery coming up, I'd put up with a ticklish nose for a minute or two!
Overbearing! really. Here's a guy hoping to have cancer surgery, which sounds like a pretty darn serious thing, and he's worrying about a 10 second tickling sensation. If it's a choice between a PCR test and Ice Cream, go for Ice Cream. But if it's a choice between a PCR test and life-saving cancer surgery, I'd say, the test is trivial.
I've had 2 PCR tests so far for different reasons. I can guarantee you, it's a sterile bit of cotton that goes up your nose; only AFTER they've taken the cotton from your nose do they then subject it to testing with 'God knows what'.
The point here is that it is totally unreasonable to have to do a PCR-test to be able to get surgery. He is right to feel bad about it. You seem to be encouraging people to take unreasonable tests because "it's nothing".
A seemingly sterile piece of cotton that goes up a very sensitive spot. We don't know, but it has been suggested that they can put hydrogel on the PCR tests. Or use them to take your DNA. Or a million other things you don't want. Why would you trust them when they try to force you to do something nonsensical and uncomfortable?
Perhaps it is a denigration and a risk that is worth it compared to cancer surgery? Could well be that you are right. I am not saying that. All I'm saying is that it isn't "nothing" to allow them access to a spot that is extremely close to our brain "just because".
When weighing risks, I would perhaps chose to take the PCR test to get the surgery (if I believed the surgery was needed), but I would at least try to protest and get away with not doing it. Or perhaps do a rapid test instead.
I assume I'll have to but to me it's like rape. I don't consent, it is a violation, it is all a scam/lie and the test are being discontinued so it's so disingenuous to act like it does anything or protects anyone. And what if we drive 10 hours for surgery and Get a false positive?? Then I'm hosed..

I've spoken to many people who have said that they find it very uncomfortable to have them rummage around inside of your head.
You might be fine with getting things (containing God knows what) stuck right into one of the most sensitive and vulnerable spots of your body.
But please respect other people's choice and desire to have bodily autonomy!
