Through most of my volunteer work (doing what Gen McInerney and Gen Flynn) said about restoring the levers of power back to WE THE PEOPLE it's all about stopping being lazy about who runs our schools, and who runs our public policies in our local areas.
The crazy part is that most of the volunteers I'm seeing, they're mostly Gen X and Boomers. "OK Boomer" is all of a sudden not funny anymore when you see a lot of them are really old, yet they're spending their time and energy to volunteer, rally, protest, and fight for our rights.
My question is, where are the millenials and Gen Z? Barely any millenials are fighting, and you barely see any Gen Z. This is potentially dangerous for the future of this nation!
I'm 25 and work a lot with our local veterans. You'll never find a greater group to work with! There's quite a good group here where I live, with younger people who help do stuff around the community.
I am not too interested in joining up with politics because I see what it does to people. Except for a few rare gems, politics seem to change a person...and typically it's not not anything good.
I agree with the lack of interest with younger people. With this cancel culture and 'woke' movement, it's going to push the younger ones away even more so.
All I have to say at the moment is that, thank goodness for the boomers, they're what's keeping our insane country somewhat stable.....for the time being.
I agree with everything you said, and yes, based boomers and best boomers. Haha. I dont mean "get into politics." I mean start volunteering. For example, one could help recall a corrupt governor/mayor or city council, one could protest against vaccine/mask passports/mandates. Here's another great example: another youngin' could volunteer to watch the election as a poll observer or work in the vote centers. Even so, there's nothing wrong with based citizens running for office as well. We need proper elected officials that represent WE THE PEOPLE.
I kind of disagree. I don't think it's so much that all of the cancel culture/woke crap is pushing young people away from politics, so much as it's making them, along with everyone else, sick of it all.
If anything, it's one of the reasons Gen Z is actually more conservative than previous generations, despite the constant attempts at brainwashing. When you shove this crap down someone's throat 24/7, they'll get tired of it pretty fast and just want to be left alone. I think that's the mentality most people have.
I'm sure in areas with higher population, there are plenty of young people volunteering and helping the cause. But I know a lot of them, along with a good portion of older people, are just mentally exhausted and want to spend their free time doing something that will help them vent and relax rather than work more.
Not saying either option is the "right" option, just my thoughts on what's going on. Besides, I think a lot of young people are helping out more on the cyber side of things rather than the IRL side. Young conservative cyber soliders if you will. Fighting the tyranny on the internet and helping to organize things through the web.
So Gen Z is based, but they need to go out and help in the local communities more.
I know MANY up-n-coming young frens around me who have their heads on straight and are getting very involved. I wish there were more of course, but those who “get it” are on FIRE to save the Republic. They know their history, the Constitution, exactly what’s at stake, and their responsibility to help make a difference. There’s still hope for the young. Pray for them, and teach any who will listen!
Statistically, most Millennials and Gen-Z`ers lean more left/progressive so don't really feel things need to change. They're happy with the current regime, so why fight it.
Plus, these are the under age 40 people that now have most of the younger children and over the last 18 months, have had to expend a lot of time and energy trying to balance remote schooling or closed daycare while working. I can't count how many times I've been in a teleconference and a toddler wanders in or the small kids are fighting in the background. I don't know if I could have balanced that when my kids were young.
I don't know why anyone puts any stock in all of the "statistics" that say that younger generations are left leaning. In my experience that's almost always not true. In fact there's more and more evidence that comes out every year that the opposite is true. I think it was crowder that made a video a while back going over the horse crap polls and statistics about young people and proved that Gen Z is actually the first "official" generation to become more conservative, rather than liberal since WW I.
That being said, you make an excellent point about lots of people under 40 having hectic lives thanks to their kids being home 24/7 and the work from home stuff. I'd imagine that's probably a pretty stressful situation and pushes things like volunteer work or protesting to the back of your mind.
Regardless, us young people are out there doing our part in various ways. You just don't see us taking front and center as much since no one wants to follow an inexperienced teen or 20 something with little to no life experience. Hence why it's mostly older people you see taking the leadership roles, and thus getting the spotlight in most cases.
I can't speak for others in Gen Z, but I'm in the middle of a super red county in the middle of nowhere in a blue state, that has already gave the middle finger to our state government on every possible topic ranging from gun control, to CRT, to the stupid masks and jabs, etc. There's literally nothing to protest unless I drove 4 hours away, and I'm currently helping take care of my parents since they've both got health problems.
So for me, it's a literal lack of things to protest or volunteer for. We've already gave the middle finger to the government earlier this year and are openly refusing to comply with the tyranny.
Haha you have it lucky. We have it tough here in California.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result.
