Except in this case, you had a 100% chance of going into the water and freezing to death.

Where as the mask situation you may have the percentage of around 25% of preventing a microscopic virus from entering into your lungs. All because of a 1.2% chance of dying from a virus.

More like in this case the freezing water exists and in our current case the virus doesn't exist.
