One post from the 23rd - Kabul Small Animal Rescue While most military working dogs are evacuated with soldiers and citizens, dogs that work for military contractors often meet a worse fate. We have heard of some being released onto the streets, some euthanized, and our own rescue has assisted in retrieving dogs left in locked kennels as humans evacuate. We will continue to work to find abandoned working dogs over the next week and are working with people on the ground as well as those who have been evacuated to find them. Here are two of our regal boarders, who will now stay with us until all our animals can be evacuated. Please continue to support our efforts to care for and evacuate these animals and to evacuate our hard working staff and their families from an increasingly hostile environment.

Notice they say MOST military dogs, not ALL. And the other dogs are military contractors working dogs. So a fair bit of semantics being played by the pentagon.
