This is frankly very much part of the ‘American psyche’… not a care outside their own comfort zone.
First world problems, life is too good… the basic physiological necessities are accessible. As you move up the hierarchy of needs you can then start to see how much of it is psyche-oriented… safety, love/belonging, esteem, self actualization.
People have too much time on their hands, or to be more specific … their minds are too idle. Idle minds decay, or look for stimuli to stay alive.
It’s all manufactured crisis.
