I'm going to guess he has already spoken with her by phone. Just my thoughts. I say this because if someone would say that to me now after my son is gone, I would be pretty offended. Many can look and say, hmmm.. not really what I'd say in this situation.

This statement just seems a little bit out of character for him… he was even gracious and kept politics out of it when he heard about RBG dying. It’s not like him to use someone’s loss to advance his (our) agenda.
