Many people who have been living on EDD benefits will have their free money dry up starting September 6th and it doesn't seem like another extension is coming.
First, a lot of lazy people who have been sucking at the teet for a year and a half are about to be angry they can't receive a pay check for sitting on their ass. Who, where, and how will this anger be directed?
There will be an entire new group of people re-entering the workforce who have been out of work for a long time due to free gibs, almost 8 million people. How will this effect the economy? Positive, negative, both?
I can't fully explain why but it feels like an important marker, but it feels like a big deal. What do you all think?
Fun fact: there are surprising limitations on what you can buy with food stamps.
You can’t buy any prepared food, or hot food. Rotisserie chickens are not allowed. There are other weird exemptions. They basically try to force you to buy crap because that’s the only thing your food stamps work on/afford to feed you for a week.
As the volunteer office I once worked with used to say, you get better outcomes when you give people a hand up, not a handout.
Yes BUT... u can buy a cold chicken that was previously cooked... Cold prepared foods.. or a premad uncooked pizza and then have them cook it lol... NY is super weird on that crap
Hmmm. Have you been to WA state? 7-11 accepts EBT cards (hi-tech welfare). Rotisserie chickens, and all hot foods can be purchased with stamps. Leeches separate their booze and smokes for the 2nd "ring up" at the checkout
Have never been to WA. This is mostly my experience volunteering in the Northeast.
It's a special kind of stupid here...
Well they could learn to cook.they have the time.
