There used to be a video on YouTube that provided an excellent breakdown of how shows like Colbert manipulate audiences with laughter queues. I wish I could find it.

Colbert is very much a Lady Gaga, David Bowie, Die Antwoord type of character. Theater. Except Colbert and Gaga are may be alphabet people.
