This chip shortage is insane. That's what we get for outsourcing all of our fabs though. Everyone decided to use TSMC instead of building their own fab. Idiots. All to save pennies.
I cannot believe how it's virtually impossible to get certain chips for a couple of projects I'm involved with. There's one company out there that basically told us to expect nothing theyve made the past 15 years to be available in significant quantity until 2023. I had to send out 4 chips to be reballed ... They were yanked from a prototype and could very well be damaged, but having the chance at having a working chip is better than none at all. Incredible.
On a side note, I have a LOT of concern about one of AMD's more recent purchases. AMD's CEO is Chinese ... She's from Taiwan, but who knows if that even matters anymore. If China gets full access to the technology AMD just bought, we are going to have big problems.
