I handle cash all day long, we just don't have time to look at anything beyond the proper denomination to count the payment and the change.
Unless you are paying someone with more time on their hands or the cash is not going straight into a cash drawer? And when I hand back the change, they look at the denomination as I count it back... Not sure who is going to catch this small gesture of protest.
