PSALM 61. For the director of music. With stringed instruments. Of David.
Theme: Prayer for security and assurance. Wherever we are, we can trust that God will be there to answer our cries for help.
Author: David, written when he was forced to escape during the days of Absalom's rebellion (2 Samuel 15--18), or after he had narrowly escaped one of Saul's efforts to kill him while hiding in the desert.

1 Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. 2 From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. 3 For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe. 4 I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings. 5 For you, God, have heard my vows; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name. 6 Increase the days of the king’s life, his years for many generations. 7 May he be enthroned in God’s presence forever; appoint your love and faithfulness to protect him. 8 Then I will ever sing in praise of your name and fulfill my vows day after day.
Study Notes:
61:1, 2 David must have been far from home when he wrote this psalm. Fortunately, God is not limited to any geographic location. Even when we are around unknown people and surroundings, God never abandons us. A "higher" rock would be a plain of refuge and safety. God's all-surpassing strength is always with us.
61:8 David made a vow to praise God each day. David continually praised God through both the good and difficult times of his life. [I highlighted the next sentences.]. Do you find something to praise God for each day? As you do, you will find your heart elevated from daily distractions to lasting confidence.
When I put my everlasting attitude on, I live day by day. Calendars, speed, and deadlines are less important to me than the things that are everlasting (like truth, honesty, commitment, diligence, etc.) My focus on God begins with each awakening and stays with me all throughout the day, or at least that's my intent starting out. Yesterday, it was a tough afternoon because, in reality, I don't like computers. But, I found a blessing in these posts that I share with you --I went back and played some of the songs that are all favorites of mine. When I refocused on God, I found I was elevated above the irritations of the day.
Lord, thank you for leading me to a higher plain and for urging me to share my morning Bible reads and songs with others. You knew your purposes better than I did/do. I praise you for the little (and big) ways you work. Lord, I lift up all those who are working to bring out the truth. Protect them, surround them with your dome of love and truth that repels all attacks. Lord, help us be alert and aware of how we can help others, and can serve your purpose in it all. I give you praise today and always for your saving grace. Thank you for your Son, my salvation. It is in his name, Jesus Christ, I pray.

Have a blessed day.
I tell anyone who will listen to find a book or look online to will help you understand Revelation. Probably the most important book in the Bible.
