Each year, employees are required to attest to the company’s Code of Ethics. This is something that most employees read through in its entirety maybe their first year and then blindly sign every year after.
This year, the company was very careful to slide in this very vague, but extremely over reaching sentence. Out of a 39 page document, there was that one sentence and it was inserted in a way that avoided key words people who are concerned would be searching for such as Covid or vaccine.
By attesting to this Code of Ethics, if they move in the direction (which I’m positive they will) of mandating vaccines and booster shots, any employee who attested to this would be stripped of their rights to refuse, since they already attested to adhering to “any additional requirements”.
Fairly ironic that they deceptively inserted this ethics violation into their Code of Ethics.
It's not supposed to go to court. It's an intimidation attempt to force compliance for the majority and the rest will get fired with no benefits when they refuse. That small amount was calculated by the lawyers and accounts to be worth the trouble financially. I kind of hate how well I can see through this sort of tactic.
