Satan has tried to destroy this part of the world before, in different ways. I guess he feels if he can destroy the throne room, where the King will sit(Jerusalem), maybe he has a chance. Satan wants to destroy the seed of his own destruction will come from. The seed being Jesus Christ, will destroy Satan as it is written, and that dark eyed fool of a shepherd will lose again.
