Me today in red suburb in deep blue state.
Two signs on the convenience store door stress that masks are strongly recommended, but not required for service.
Nobody in the store has a mask.
Cashier has no mask.

I mean, when a gay bar in Austin of all places has "don't get vaccinated(trust this message)" written on the bathroom stalls and when less than 5% of people, including most of the staff, do not wear a mask you know a lot more people have opinions that differ than the mainstream narrative. It feels like two different universes in Austin.
I will go to HEB grocery shopping and everyone masked up even though its not required. Then everyone's partying maskless everywhere on weekends and holidays. Shows me people just do the things they do because they are afraid to stand out or cause controversy not because they believe in it.

It's probably that our struggle has yet to take place.
At the local supermarket where I live, there are a few of the staff who don't wear masks. I never wear a mask and they never bother me. I'd say the majority of customers are still mask sheep, but I've noticed an increasing number of customers have stopped wearing masks.

No mask no service right at the counter to pick up food. Walk right past it. Ever since the reinstatement of indoor mask mandate haven’t had anyone confront me yet. Just went to the library yesterday and it was ok. Grocery stores are ok. Just one time some ice cream store kicked me out for no mask no service. I didn’t need the calories anyways.

CA here, back in 2020 I used to wear a mask to get past the person at the door making sure everyone had one on. I would then take it off in the store and go about my business. I haven't worn one for well over a year now. I don't even read their signs.

Most corporations are more afraid of the liability involved with actually confronting anyone than they are afraid of getting fined for not enforcing it.

I just came back from visiting family in San Diego, CA. I didn't even take a mask with me. None of the stored or restaurants I went to had any mask mandates. I think Newsom is too afraid of the upcoming recall election to re-institute the mask mandate (if/when he steals the re-election, I bet he will put it back in place). It's hard to believe that it's easier to shop in CA than in my home state of NV where our governor brought back masks in July.
Note: I still don't wear one, but get looks and of course occasional comments. In fact I was out shopping today and I didn't see a single other person without a mask. People here are so fucking compliant it's slickening.

Well there’s no current mask mandate...Until Newsom doesn’t get recalled. Stand by, the worst of it may yet be ahead of us. I can’t wait to GTFO.

With the exception of the mask Nazis at Costco, most businesses don’t seem to care. Not only that, most staffers are very friendly.

This is not right. I would rather date or be friends with a based person from another race than a liberal of the same race and I find that especially happening a lot more lately. Take a look at Hispanics that have hugely shifted there votes toward Trump in the last election and I see it a lot for myself even in the liberal hellhole of Austin. Some of the most based people I have met are not even white here.
