I don’t think Trump gets advice from Gates, it was more likely a test. It’s kind of a red flag when Trump theoretically asks a guy:

“Hey I was thinking of putting together (ie. funding) a committee to help assess the effectiveness of something you are investing a lot of time, money and risk into (vaccines).”

And Gates answers “Oh no, you don’t want to do that”

Can you imagine Elon Musk shrugging off government research funding like that?
